Plant 3 offsets CO₂ emissions through future forest

PACO Group contributes to regional sustainability through the “Klimapakt für Steinau”

As a member of the "Klimapakt für Steinau" (Climate Pact for Steinau)Plant 3 of Paul GmbH & Co. KG in Steinau has been officially recognized for the first time for its CO₂ reduction and the offsetting of remaining emissions. By participating in the pact, Paul GmbH & Co. KG voluntarily commits to reducing CO₂ emissions at the operational level. Emissions that cannot be avoided are offset through the planting of local “future forests” on forestry land in the Steinau area.

With this step, the PACO Group takes another important stride toward CO₂ offsetting and sustainable business practices: after the certification of Paul & Co. Herolz GmbH, the Steinau site now becomes part of a consistent, step-by-step climate strategy for the entire company.

The sustainability certificate for Plant 3 in Steinau can be found here.

About the Klimapakt für Steinau (Climate Pact for Steinau)

On the initiative of the Gewerbe- und Verkehrsverein (GVV), a climate pact was launched to encourage companies to reduce CO₂ emissions and offset unavoidable emissions. The idea to bring the successful model from Schlüchtern to Steinau came from Laura Ruppel (PACO) and Manuel Hoffmann (RubiePharm).

CO₂ emissions are offset through the reforestation of regional forest areas. The project is funded through membership fees and grants and is supervised by Hessen-Forst, represented by Forestry Director Sebastian Merkel and Forest Ranger Tanja Halfmann.

The first future forest will be established on approximately 0.8 hectares at the Weinberg near the Bergweiher. Various deciduous and coniferous trees will be planted, including oak, hornbeam, small-leaved lime, sweet chestnut, and larch. The goal is to create a healthy, climate-resilient mixed forest that makes a sustainable contribution to environmental protection in the region.
