Expanded Metal
An expanded metal mesh is created when cuts are made in a metal surface and then it is pulled apart – i.e. expanded.
This produces a kind of mesh with openings that can have different shapes: diamonds, rectangular bars, hexagons, squares, etc. Expanded metal meshes are similar to perforated plates, although there is no loss of material during production. The inventor's idea was therefore as simple as it was ingenious. When rolled, expanded metal can be as flat as perforated plates. They are used by PACO to stabilize filter elements in a similar way to perforated plates.
